Buble Tea

A few weeks ago I was watching an episode of "No Reservations" when the host decided to have some Buble Tea. I thought well that sounds interesting. Not long after that show aired I was with my children, minus Pete, at the Asian Grocery Store we frequent in Pineville, North Carolina. I knew they had a little deli section that served Vietnamese sandwiches, but I had never notice the sign for Buble tea. So we decided to split one and I being the one with the money said we would have a coconut flavored Buble tea.

Now understand what this is. It is like a fruit drink with little tapioca pearls (balls) at the bottom. These pearls have a gummy bear quality to them. It takes a little getting use to them, but I like it. They give you an oversized straw to suck up the pearls. My oldest two are not big fans, but the two little ones cannot get enough.

We tried a mango today. I am not a big mango fan. The wife was with us today and she got to choose the flavor. I was surprised at how smooth the mango was, to me Mango is often a bit sharp in flavor. This was very sweet and the wife thought too sweet. I would say if you like sweet drinks, give this a try. They are a little expensive at Four dollars a pop, but they are really good to split.

Good Eatings,

  2. Lychee are the BEST! PhoNoodleville makes them and they are awesome! Actually I bought the pearls and the oversized straws at Ken-Lee's so the next time y'all are down we can make some :)

btw- I bought Bourdaine's Les Halles cookbook and it is AWESOME although the language is pretty much just like the show minus the bleeps. But the recipes (and the way he explains technique) is really good.
