Question for All "What is your food cure for the common cold?"

I have had a cold now for several days. I have my own little saying to deal with sickness; "feed a cold and feed a fever!" I watched Andrew Zimmerman while laying in bed. He was in Singapore and went to a restaurant that had a Eastern Doctor write you out a menu that was a prescription to improve your health.

With this in mind? I ask you, "What is your best or favorite food cure for the common cold?"

  1. If it is accompanied by a sore throat, then a cup of warm (not hot) Dr. Pepper with a round orange slice floating on top.

If I have congestion, then some spicy cajun food will clear things up for a little while.

  2. Our Middle Eastern friends say you should drink hot tea with whole cloves so that you never get a cold. This also helps when you have a cold.

  3. If I have icky sinus stuff then I opt for Indian food... typically saag paneer or the veg. thali since it's all good :) The spice seems to open up my sinuses and I always feel better afterwards.

M's tea suggestion is excellent too... we're all drinking a lot clove tea right now.
